Self Assessment for Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea Assessment

Sleep apnea is an important medical condition which can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.    It is important to know whether the problem is just snoring or if Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is also present.

Most people who have OSA are unaware that they have it.

Self Assessment

  • Do you snore loudly?
  • Is your snoring a problem for others?
  • Do you lack vitality on waking?
  • Are you often sleepy during the day?
E.g.    do you fall asleep at meetings, reading or watching TV?
  • Has anyone heard you snore, gasp or hold your breath during sleep?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you may be suffering from more than just snoring, you may have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).    OSA can only be diagnosed by a sleep study.

We also offer an interactive self- assessment PDF of an Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS).

The ESS is widely used as a way of measuring subjective sleep propensity in research and clinical practice.    To get started, launch our PDF file now.
